WIF/S helped me connect
with the local production community when I first moved
to town. Then I began referring members for jobs and became
known as a “go to” person for companies looking
for great crews. WIF/S gave me a win-win opportunity."

Movie Salon & Discourse Parlor is up and running!
We have added a new feature designed by Annie Grosshans, new WIF Board Member, a Movie Salon & Discourse Parlor which offers discussions of films each month. We focus on movies in current release or generally available by women directors/writers, or with (a) complex female character(s), or a narrative aspect that engages meaningful questioning: a mix of current releases & older contemporary, independent & mainstream theatrical release.
The Discourse Parlor:
We post a movie idea and give enough time for members to see the movie, note their own reactions, and post initial comments. Then the dialog begins. WIF will build a movie list with developing commentary as a resource for members for future reference.
The underlying premise: that story is essential to our understanding of existence but our inherited narratives have exhausted their ability to create meaning. What interests Annie now are tales that unearth new ground. She calls this practice, a Narrative Otherways. And she is always on the lookout for it.
What will we see?
Stories that spark energy, make you think, make you want to talk about and share with others. Along with this will come planned screenings we will do together. More information about this new feature for our members will be posted here and sent to you from WIF/S.
