Why volunteer for WIF Seattle? Two compelling reasons: it’s fun and can get you more work.
Beyond making a difference, volunteering shows your colleagues what you can do. It allows you to build relationships and trust, and that’s what business is all about.
So what are you waiting for? WIF Seattle is an active organization with many committees in a variety of arenas. Pick one you’re interested in and contact the board member in charge from the list below.
Unexpected things happen when you make the effort.
Communications
If writing, communicating, and connecting in with your professional peers is what you enjoy doing, contact Rachael Ellison-Taylor, chair of the communications committee at rachael_ellison_taylor@hotmail.com
Web Site
Are you web interface literate? Our website is a dynamic, ever-changing resource for industry professional members and the local film community. But we need help keeping the information flowing. For more information, contact President Emeritus Virginia Bogert at virgina@laughingdogpictures.com
Fundraising
As a worthy non-profit organization, WIF Seattle is seeking people with knowledge about corporate sponsorship, fundraising, and grant writing to become involved by joining the Fundraising Committee. Please contact Vice President Barbara Brown barbara.brown00@gmail.com
Membership
Nothing is more vital to an organization’s success than the involvement of its members and the growth of the membership base itself. Join in our efforts to grow WIF Seattle. Please contact Laura Jean Cronin, Membership Committee Chair, at minadog10@hotmail.com.
Events
Special events are not only fun, they’re an integral part of member involvement. They make the difference between an organization that’s really going someplace and one that languishes. Help the Events Committee in all aspects of event planning – venue selection, speakers, decorating, legwork on-site, and more. Contact Jenn George at j.george@coffeendonutz.com and Catherine Grealish, catherinegrealish@gmail.com for The Second Tuesday Events, and Vanessa Eng at vanessarocks@gmail.com or Theresa Gilliam at theresa@tactics.com for Workshops & Seminars.
Nell Shipman Awards
The Nell Award Ceremonies have been fabulous events over the years, crowned by the 2006 event with special guest Bonnie Bedelia. The preparation for this ceremony is grand and needs the talents of an event planner, including event design, planning, research, set up, on-site help. To make this event work, we need at least 12 volunteers. For more information, please contact Virginia Bogert virginia@laughingdogpictures.com.
PR/Marketing Committee
Would you like to work with an experienced PR maven at WIF, get WIF Seattle media and print coverage, communicate the organization's work and activities to the general public, invent innovative and exciting marketing/promotional ideas for the organization and upcoming events? If this sounds like your bailiwick, please contact Dinah Brein, WIF's Public Relations and Marketing Chair, at dinahmite9@gmail.com.
